Financial Express reported on December 26 that recently, Anwar, head of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), led a team to visit Bangladesh National Taxation Bureau (NBR) The chairman, Rahman Khan, raised a claim on matters related to customs and bonded warehouses, and hoped that the government would amend the current regulations to allow non bonded garment factories to open local back-to-back letters of credit, purchase raw materials in Bangladesh for export, and simplify the customs clearance process of imported raw materials, machinery and equipment. NBR said that it would further explore ways to facilitate non bonded factories to obtain permits and optimize customs clearance services.
