Foreign Trade Information: The Ministry Of Commerce Is Expected To Achieve Positive Growth In China'S Foreign Trade Throughout The Year

At the 2023-2024 China Economic Annual Conference held by the China International Economic Exchange Center, Tang Wenhong, Assistant Minister of Commerce, said that since this year, China's foreign trade has achieved new results in stabilizing its scale and optimizing its structure, and is expected to achieve positive growth throughout the year.

Data shows that from January to November, China's total import and export value was 37.96 trillion yuan, unchanged from the same period last year, of which, the export value was 21.6 trillion yuan, an increase of 0.3%, and the import and export of private enterprises, the main force of foreign trade, increased by 6.1%. Tang Wenhong said that the momentum of "progress" was gradually emerging.

Tang Wenhong, assistant minister of the Ministry of Commerce: Since October, the monthly growth rate of import and export has turned positive. In October and November, it has achieved a decline from "four consecutive drops" to "two consecutive rises". The fourth quarter is the traditional peak season of foreign trade, and it is expected to achieve positive growth throughout the year.

The Central Economic Work Conference pointed out that we should open wider to the outside world at a high level. Tang Wenhong said that the Ministry of Commerce will benchmark international high standard economic and trade rules, accelerate institutional opening, and continue to implement the upgrading strategy of the pilot free trade zone; In key areas such as trade, investment and finance, we will focus on introducing a number of leading and integrated reform measures to promote the continuous development of opening-up in depth.
