"Clothes" Became The Chief Culprit In The Accident.

In the cold winter, electric heaters and electric baking stoves are necessary tools for many southern residents to warm themselves in winter.

However, the resulting fire also entered a high incidence period.

According to media reports, Mr. Liang in Changsha, Hunan was baking at home using a roasting stove.

A fire broke out in Jiangxi; a 3 year old girl fell asleep when she was warming up near the charcoal stove.

Because the stove was too close, the fire ignited the hem of the cotton coat, causing the girl to burn 3 degrees deep.

"Clothing" seems to be the chief culprit in the accident.

According to a survey conducted by the China Quality News reporter, although China has already put forward stricter combustion performance safety requirements for textiles used in public places, compared with the developed countries such as the United States and Canada, China has taken the following steps for general use and decoration.

However, there is a lack of uniform and clear safety requirements for combustion performance.

Some experts suggested that this requirement should also be included in the relevant mandatory standards as a product quality supervision and spot check project.

According to statistics, there are about 750 injuries caused by clothing fire in China every year, of which about 80 are serious injuries, and most of them happen to children under 12 years old.

Zhang Hui, senior engineer of the China Textile Industry Standardization Research Institute, introduced some of these figures with a heavy expression: "in the past, people seldom paid attention to the frequent use of household textiles, pajamas and other textiles, and the flame-retardant functions of decorative textiles such as curtains and curtains.

But in recent years, fire accidents caused by flammable clothes frequently occur at home and abroad in daily life, which makes people pay more and more attention to the flame retardancy of textile and clothing products.

For textiles, combustion performance is a very important quality index.

According to the introduction, the combustion properties of textiles can be characterized by flame spread rate, duration of combustion, flame retardant time and damage length.

Generally speaking, the smaller the flame spread rate of a fabric, the shorter the reburning time. The ignition time is relatively slow when contacting the fire source, which can give people the reaction time to get rid of the fire source's burn to the body or avoid the occurrence of the fire.

Therefore, the combustion performance of textiles is an important index affecting the safety of life.

Flame retardancy refers to the nature of material or material that has obvious delay in flame spreading after treatment.

Zhang Hui and others have explained that for textile and clothing products, there are many factors such as material, fabric structure, design and so on, which determine its combustion performance.

First of all, materials, daily clothes,

pajamas

Such as textiles, and curtain, curtain and other decorative textiles are made of flammable cotton or synthetic fiber materials; secondly, fabric structure, such as some winter household clothing, in order to achieve certain warmth effect, will use some suede fabrics, the surface of these suede fabrics can easily be ignited and spread the fire; three, in terms of design, some pajamas consider the comfort design will be relatively relaxed, when walking the swing is relatively large, easy to get close to the fire source and ignited.

Deng Hua, Professor of Department of light chemical engineering, School of textile engineering, Tianjin University of Technology, has been engaged in textile flame retardant research for many years. She told reporters: "China's textile flame retardant requirements are mainly aimed at protective clothing, fabrics used in public places, and interior fabrics of pportation tools.

For example, cinema screens, interior fabrics for aircraft, trains and cars, decorative wall coverings used in buildings, etc.

Deng Hua introduced, "flame retardant fabric", "flame retardant protective clothing" and "public places flammable products and components combustion performance requirements and identification" and other national standards, all of the public places for different uses of textiles flame retardant performance requirements, and the provisions of the oxygen index method, vertical combustion method, horizontal combustion method and other different combustion performance test methods.

"These flame-retardant textiles must undergo special flame retardant finishing.

General textiles can not meet the requirements of flame retardancy without special treatment. "

But he also told reporters that at present, there is no mandatory requirement for flame retardancy of ordinary clothes in China.

Shaoxing three Lida textile flame retardant New Material Co., Ltd. is a specialized manufacturer of textile flame retardant materials.

Miss li of the company told reporters that the products of 2/3 were sold abroad.

And related products are used in public places, not producing ordinary clothing materials.

As far as she knows, few of the enterprises producing textile flame retardants in China produce ordinary fabrics.

In contrast to the safety requirements for the combustion and performance of textiles lacking in general use and decoration in China, the developed countries and regions such as the United States, the European Union, Japan and other developed countries have not only paid attention to public places when formulating technical regulations and standards for the flame-retardant properties of textiles, but also paid great attention to the general use of textiles, especially children's clothing.

Zhang Hui said, "it is closely related to the living habits of foreign countries.

In winter, fireplaces are used for heating, while children like to play in pajamas at the fireplace, which is more likely to cause fires on clothes.

Therefore, the United States and the European Union have strict requirements for the flame-retardant properties of children's pajamas.

However, Zhang Hui stressed that it is precisely because of the concern for child safety that in this year's release and next June 1st, the mandatory standard of "infant and child textile product safety technical specification" was specifically added to the requirements of "combustion performance".

In this standard, the combustion properties of fabrics used for infants and children's textile products, linings and accessories must conform to the "1 grade" combustion performance standard, but the combustion performance "only examines the outer fabric of the product; the pure textiles of wool, acrylic, modified acrylic, nylon, polypropylene and polyester fiber, and the fabrics blended with these fibers are not evaluated; the fabric with a unit area of more than 90g/m2 is not assessed."

It can be said that this is the first standard for assessing the combustion performance of common clothing in China.

"This is still a relatively low requirement.

We suggest that safety requirements for the combustion performance of general and decorative textiles should also be included in the relevant mandatory standards.

Zhang Hui said.
