Pakistan

The Textile Industry Association (APTMA) held a press conference calling on the Pakistani government to provide the textile industry with an uninterrupted supply of natural gas 7 days a week starting in July 1st.

According to the original energy supply plan, the Palestinian government's supply of natural gas to Punjab was terminated in June 30th.

Ancient Haar al jarzi, President of the all Pakistan Textile Mills Association, called on the government to adhere to its priority policy for the supply of natural gas to the textile industry.

Pakistan is the fourth largest textile producing country in the world, and the textile industry accounts for 60% of the total export revenue so far.

However, inadequate energy supply is putting pressure on the normal operation of Pakistan's textile industry.

In June this year, the electricity gap in Pakistan was 7739 MW, and the natural gas supply gap in the textile industry was about 400 million cubic feet per day.

The suspension of natural gas supply in the textile sector increased from 55 days in 2008/2009 fiscal year to 100 days in 2009/2010 fiscal year.

In the current financial year,

Natural gas

The supply was suspended for 163 days, of which 72 were in winter and 92 in the fall.

There are about 2000 factories in Punjab province of Pakistan. Due to the shortage of energy supply, the local weaving factories have been closed down, and about 800 have been closed, causing about 500 thousand workers to lose their jobs. Only about 100 thousand workers in the country have lost their jobs because of factory closures.

The leader of the industry said the shortage of electricity and gas has forced hundreds of factories to close and more factories will be closed.

To ease the suspension of natural gas supply

electrical power is in shortage

The government of Pakistan pays 3 billion rupees / days to the independent power plant in Punjab.

The government of Pakistan said that the textile department took power from the State Grid when the supply of natural gas was suspended.

Through the power supply of the State Grid, the textile industry can save a certain cost of electricity.

In addition, the Palestinian government has proposed installing power generation equipment in textile factories to reduce the consumption of 1000 megawatts of electricity from the State Grid.
