The project will be run by Huahua Industrial Investment Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Huajian group and Hongkong Powell group. It aims to bring the whole Dongguan into the high-end platform of the international footwear industry, and promote the upgrading and development of Dongguan's "world shoe capital" in Dongguan.

It is reported that Dongguan is currently the world's largest footwear production base, with more than 1500 shoe enterprises, more than 2000 supporting enterprises, more than 1500 related traders and purchasers, about 2000000 employees and 1 billion 500 million pairs of shoes annually. Around 65% of the world's high-end shoes or shoes are from Dongguan. Only sports shoes account for 1/4 of the world's sports shoes. Among them, Nike, Adidas and other world famous sneakers are produced in Dongguan.

However, the footwear industry in Dongguan is facing a rather severe situation in recent years. The construction of the public platform system of the footwear industry is still not perfect, and the independent innovation capability of enterprises is still insufficient. The lack of famous brand and regional brand seriously restricts the development and spanformation and upgrading of the footwear industry. As a result, the world shoe headquarters has been widely concerned and supported by all sectors of society since its establishment. It has been included in the pilot project of Guangdong's industrial spanformation and upgrading, and the 2011 key construction project in Dongguan.

In this regard, Zhang Huarong, chairman of Huajian shoe industry, said that the footwear industry in Dongguan must seek spanformation and upgrading. From the processing and manufacturing of pure finished shoes, it will be spanformed into a complete industrial chain that integrates R & D, trade, leather manufacturing, shoe manufacturing, shoe machine matching, finished products processing and logistics distribution. "Only if we have a complete industrial chain can we effectively reduce costs, enhance efficiency and enable enterprises to have greater voice."

The first phase of the project will invest 500 million yuan.

Zhang Hong, deputy general manager of the world shoe base, said that the project is located in Houjie ecological science and Technology Industrial Park, with a total investment of nearly 1 billion 600 million yuan and a total construction area of 480 thousand square meters. After its completion, it will integrate high-end footwear R & D design, trade logistics, brand display, order and procurement, brand incubation and information consultation. It is a public service platform for the footwear industry in Dongguan, serving the spanformation and upgrading of Dongguan footwear industry and the development of the entire industrial cluster.

"The first phase of the project was launched on Tuesday, with a scale of about 110 thousand square meters, with a planned investment of 500 million yuan. It is located at the international sourcing center for leather and shoe materials, the International Exhibition Center for finished shoes, and the R & D Center for new materials and technologies." Zhang Hong said.

It has been revealed that at the launching ceremony of the first phase of the project, the world shoe base will also sign 5 cooperation intentions for the development of footwear industry in Dongguan, including signing the letter of intent to speed up the spanformation and upgrading of the thick street shoes industry with the Houjie government; signing the "letter of intent for the Dongguan shoe brand incubator strategy" with the Dongguan Leather Footwear Association; signing the strategic cooperation letter of association with the Guangdong science and technology innovation Career Academy, signing the letter of intent to cooperate with Shanghai Ying Ji Automation Technology Co., Ltd., and signing the "letter of intent for the application research and development of footwear industry" with the Department of industrial engineering of Tsinghua University.
